‘Never given a chance’ - Leeds United fans react to release of Nicky Ajose

Leeds United

Nicky Ajose left Leeds United to sign with Swindon Town.

As confirmed by BBC Sport, Nicky Ajose left Leeds United on Wednesday to sign with League One side Swindon Town.

He only moved to Elland Road last August, but he was released from the Whites by Uwe Rosler so as to ensure he would be allowed to move away from Yorkshire following the close of the transfer window.

Ajose was signed early in the reign of Dave Hockaday, the much maligned former head coach of Leeds, who spent just six games in charge of the Championship club.

The forward was never given chances to impress after Hockaday’s sacking, and his debut season as a Leeds player saw him manage just three league games and one appearance in the League Cup - totalling 258 minutes of action in total.

He headed off on loan to Crewe Alexandra in November 2014 for a loan spell, and enjoyed his stay in League One, netting eight goals in 27 games.

He has now officially left Leeds, and has linked up with Swindon, and fans took to Twitter to react to his release from the Elland Road club, with many blaming the Whites for not giving Ajose enough of a chance, whilst others suggested he was never good enough for the club to begin with.
