Chelsea loanee Chalobah looked like the next Pogba at Watford, says agent who has worries over Napoli move

Gianfranco Zola's agent has commented on Nathaniel Chalobah's switch to Napoli.

Gianfranco Zola's agent has made some interesting comments on Chelsea loanee Nathaniel Chalobah.

The England under-21 international made a deadline day switch to Napoli on loan, one of the more interesting deals of the transfer window.

Fulvio Marrucco is reported by Tuttomercatoweb to have told Radio CRC of his admiration for Chalobah when he was on loan at Zola's Watford in the 2012/13 season.

He said: "Chalobah at Gianfranco's Watford did well initially, and played in the championship. Crazily we all thought he was the new "Pogba.

"The season after the situation changed after a major renovation with Chelsea, which may have a negative impact on his career considering his young age. He could become very strong but at the time did not meet the expectations."

Chalobah may have hoped his exploits with Watford would land him a chance with Chelsea but instead he was sent on loan to Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder struggled at the City Ground, and all his good work with the Hornets was undone, and he has not recovered his momentum ever since.

More loans to the Championship were unproductive, while a Premier League move may also have been so, the decision to switch countries is a bold career choice for Chalobah, but it could be inspired.

Marrucco is less confident however, worried that the timing of the switch ill-prepares Chalobah to be a success.

He said: "At Napoli in any case he made a mistake: Chalobah does not speak Italian, has completely different habits and needs time to adapt. I would have taken him at the beginning of the market, not the last day."

It's really too early to write his spell off, and if he can have even half the impact Paul Pogba has in Serie A, he will return to Chelsea a resounding success.
