As confirmed by the official West Ham website, Alex Song completed another season-long loan to the Boleyn Ground on deadline day.
A success in his first season in East London, the Hammers had always made it a priority to bring in the Barcelona midfielder again this term, but it took until deadline day to complete a deal for the 27-year-old midfielder due to some medical issues.
He will add cover to a midfield currently lacking in depth, as well as bringing a stylish and calm presence to the central third of the pitch. He will likely stake a claim as a first-team starter, and if he can have the same impact as he did in the first-half of last season, then West Ham have a truly top class player on their hands.
Speaking following the confirmation of the deal, Song said: “I am very happy. For me it was very important to come back because when I was here I had a great rapport with the fans and the Club. It was a very easy choice for me to come back here and I'm very happy to be here.”
When the deal was completed, West Ham fans took to Twitter to welcome their key player back to the club, and praise the Hammers’ management for signing a player of real quality.
