Anthony Martial clinched his transfer to Manchester United on transfer deadline day, for a huge fee of £36 million, as reported The BBC.
Just earlier this summer it was claimed that Martial was on his way to another Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur.
Negotiations were not as far forward as claimed, and Monaco resisted Tottenham's advances.
Martial signed a new contract at Monaco, which helped the Ligue 1 side manage to push his price up to the fee the Red Devils paid.
Spurs went onto sign Lyon forward Clinton N'Jie instead for a fraction of the money United paid, who is two years older than Martial.
Monaco were last week drawn in Tottenham's Europa League group, and Martial's sudden sale means their opponents have been weakened by the star youngster moving on.
Tottenham fans have been giving their views on a deal via social media, and for once are not really blaming chairman Daniel Levy for this deal falling through, acknowledging the fee United decided to pay was extortionate considering his age.
Here is a look at the reaction...
I have been banging on about martial for the last month and now United have signed him, we could have possibly got him for £25-8m! #COYS— Jay spurs (@Aloob007) August 31, 2015
The thing about Martial- it weakens Monaco more than it strengthens Man U. Could prove crucial in Europa group. #COYS— Drew Samuels (@DrewSamuels) August 31, 2015
