Newcastle United had an impressive transfer window - but could there be one more deal to be done?
There is one player amid the list of available free agents that stands out, and could be worth the club taking a flier on, and that is Yoann Gourcuff.
Once hailed as the next Zinedine Zidane, the playmaker's contract with Lyon expired in the summer and he remains on the market.
Gourcuff is still just 29-year-old, and while he has had injury issues, he was still able to feature in 19 games for Lyon last season, netting three goals and providing four assists.
He was a player linked with Newcastle by The Mail two years ago, but now as a free agent the situation is different.
The 32-capped French international is an attacking midfielder with an eye for goal from set pieces, and could be a useful option for Steve McClaren's side.
Competition for places is needed, and Gourcuff could liven up an attack which has so far provided only two goals in their opening four Premier League matches.
As a free agent, and even on a pay-as-you play deal, Newcastle would have little to lose by bringing him in on a one-year contract, and hoping they strike gold.
