McCarthy explains what impressed him about Palace's latest win

Crystal Palace Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has praised the resilience of the team.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has told the Croydon Advertiser about what impressed following his team’s win against Chelsea last weekend.

Palace secured a high profile win over the Premier League champions as they continue a brilliant start to the new Premier League season under the guidance of Alan Pardew.

Palace took a bit of pressure during the game and McCarthy is full of praise for the way the defence dealt with the challenge of seeing off some very talented attacking players.

“The boys dug in well, we kept our shape well and hit them on the attack,” he told the Croydon Advertiser.

“We also defended very well; some great blocks from Scott Dann and Damien Delaney. They were tremendous, and that's what it's about.”

Hard to beat is a good trait

Palace aren’t always going to play the best brand of football to watch in the Premier League but their fans and fans of any side know that the Eagles are going to be very hard to beat this season.

There seems to be a real confidence and belief at the moment in what Pardew is trying to achieve at the football club and hopefully the side can keep it up over the next few months.

They need to make the most of their current momentum because there are going to be difficult spells where results don’t go their way and the character will be tested in a different fashion and manner.
