Liverpool media round-up: Ilori unlikely to return after loan as Enrique remains

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Wednesday morning.

Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori is unlikely to ever play for the club after being loaned out to Aston Villa yesterday, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Ilori has never played a first team game for the Reds since his move from Sporting Lisbon in 2013 but made the move to the West Midlands for a £1 million loan fee, and could move permanently at the end of the loan for a fee of around £9 million - but that will depend on the number of first team appearances he makes under Tim Sherwood this season.

He was the only exit from Liverpool on transfer deadline day as defender Jose Enrique failed to find a new club, meaning he will see out the remainder of his contract at Anfield.

The Spaniard was said to be attracting the interest of West Bromwich Albion but ended up remaining on Merseyside, taking to his social networking channels to say he will fight for his place at the club, the Daily Mail reports

Enrique has been surplus to requirements this summer having been left out of the tour to the Far East and Australia in pre-season, and told to train away from the first team. Teenager Joe Gomez is ahead of him in the pecking order as well as fellow Spaniard Alberto Moreno.

He then went on to delete both his twitter and instagram accounts after receiving some criticism from fans for his activity on there.
