Brendan Rodgers parody account reacts on Twitter to Van Dijk's Southampton move

The Liverpool boss's infamous alter ego took to social media after the Dutchman completed a move from Celtic to the Saints.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has done so much talking during his time at Anfield that he now has a famous parody account dedicated to him on Twitter.

The Deluded Brendan account now has 271,000 followers and is constantly exchanging with the likes of Tesco and other big brands - as well as football clubs themselves like Southampton.

And, on Deadline Day, Deluded Brendan sent a message to Southampton after they signed 24-year-old defender Virgil van Dijk from Scottish champions Celtic.

But, all joking aside, the interesting thing is you could well see it happening for the former Celtic man.

Who is Liverpool's current first-choice centre-back? Dejan Lovren. Who did Liverpool sign him from? Southampton.

And who could the Reds turn to to replace the struggling defender if he continues making high-profile errors?

Most people's bet is a ball-playing centre-back with European experience who has had a good season at St Mary's would be the first port of call for Rodgers (if he's still at Liverpool come next season or even beyond January).

In trading Celtic for Southampton, then, Van Dijk may have opened the door to a future move to Anfield or even other top-six clubs in the Premier League. Deluded Brendan certainly gives his approval.
