Did Aston Villa have a lucky escape missing out on Dimitar Berbatov, or was it an opportunity missed?
The Bulgarian striker signed with Greek side PAOK on Wednesday morning, less than 24 hours after holding talks with Aston Villa, reported The BBC.
Berbatov was a free agent having been released by Monaco earlier in the summer, despite playing a key role in helping the club reach the Champions League quarter-finals, knocking out Arsenal.
Renowned for his languid playing style, Berbatov was often the type of player who split supporters with his performances on the pitch - and despite not seeing him wear the shirt, Aston Villa fans have had a mixed reaction.
There were those who wanted to see the club land the striker, given the way the club did not splash out on replacing Christian Benteke.
Others felt Berbatov would have been a high earner and not a guarantee starter, and a deal could have backfired.
Berbatov has experience playing in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Fulham, but now instead takes his talents to Greece.
Here is a look at the reaction to him signing with PAOK...

Really pleased we didn't cave in to the wage demands from Berbatov.Just a shame we couldn't get some big earners out of our club #avfc— DOMINIC HUNT (@domvilla73) September 2, 2015
Really hoped to see Berbatov here today, but sun, umbrella drinks, beaches and Europa League seems to have done the trick. #avfc— Christer (@Chrsmo) September 2, 2015
