Watford loan Miguel Layun to Porto with £4.4m option to buy

Watford Vicarage Road

The Mexico international will spend 2015-16 in Portugal after agreeing a deal with the Estadio do Dragao giants.

Portuguese giants Porto have confirmed on their official website that they have agreed a deal with Watford to sign Mexican attacker Miguel Layun on a season-long loan.

The deal will see the exciting winger spend the campaign at the Estadio do Dragao, with his temporary employers having the option to make the switch permanent for €6 million, £4.4 million, next summer.

Layun will wear number 21 at his new club, with the allure of playing in the Champions League surely a key factor in his decision to leave Vicarage Road.

The Mexican has started two of Watford’s four Premier League games so far this season, scoring in the 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park on the opening day of the campaign.

The 27-year-old only moved to the Hornets in the January transfer window, playing 21 league games in total for the club and scoring one goal before departing.

Layun was a player that helped Watford in their promotion to the Premier League last season and the news of the deal will surely be confusing for a section of the club’s fans.
