The presence of Victor Valdes and David De Gea in the Manchester United squad could have a destabilising effect.
That is according to former Newcastle United and Hull City goalkeeper Steve Harper, who believes the pair could yet cause problems for Louis van Gaal.
Harper, in particular, is concerned that one of the two keepers could make it "tough" for the others at the club, given what has happened in recent weeks.
"Goalkeepers have always looked after each other and given each other advice," he said
"But you work in an isolated environment, doing 30/45 minutes in your own little unit, and if someone is not happy in that very small unit it can make it very difficult."
De Gea had looked set for a big money move to Real Madrid having been linked with a Los Blancos switch for much of the summer.
The deal was ultimately not completed until after the transfer deadline had passed in Spain.
Valdes, meanwhile, was heavily linked with Turkish side Besiktas, by the likes of the BBC, only to ultimately remain at Old Trafford despite having been frozen out of the side by Van Gaal.
What the future holds for the pair now, is anyone’s guess.
