Rodney Marsh reacts on Twitter to reports Austin rejected Crystal Palace

QPR Mascot And Fans

The Queens Park Rangers striker looks as though he will be staying at Loftus Road despite reported Crystal Palace interest.

Rodney Marsh is full of praise for Charlie Austin's 'advisors' after reports broke that the QPR forward has rejected Crystal Palace on Deadline Day.

Palace had appeared to be favourites to sign the 26-year-old from QPR but the striker rejected the Eagles at the 11th hour, according to the Independent.

And QPR icon Marsh has praised 'whoever is advising' Austin - whose stay will no doubt be a huge boost for the R's.

Marsh also agreed, however, that a stay will benefit Austin and his agent once he leaves QPR for free (through bigger signing-on fees).

He seemed more interested in the fact Austin will be scoring for the R's rather than Crystal Palace, though.

Some time after Marsh's tweet, Austin appeared to quash any further Crystal Palace speculation, confirming on Twitter he will remain at QPR for the rest of the Championship season.

The 26-year-old could still leave Loftus Road if there is a major twist, of course, while a January exit will also be possible.

But an arrangement that sees Austin leave QPR at the end of the season will be hugely beneficial for both him and the R's. Either that or the west London club keep him even then...
