Reported Tottenham target Ayoze Perez not for sale, say Newcastle

Spurs are determined to add to their attacking options in the last few hours of the transfer window.

Newcastle United have rubbished reports linking striker Ayoze Perez with a move away and insisted that the 22-year old is not for sale, according to the Chronicle Live.

Reports emerged last night - in the Daily Mail - linking the Spaniard with a £15 million move to Tottenham Hotspur, but any hopes of a deal being done appear to have been quashed.

The Chronicle’s report states that Newcastle have confirmed that any link to Spurs or “anyone else” is “total rubbish” and that the diminutive forward will remain on Tyneside.

It’s a stance in keeping with last week’s commitment by the club hierarchy to keep hold of their best assets, as reported in the Northern Echo, and Perez certainly falls into that category.

The lively frontman, signed from Tenerife last summer, burst onto the scene last season - in the midst of an injury crisis up front - and scored on his first league start – against Spurs.

He went on to become a regular for the Magpies and bagged seven goals in his 36 Premier League appearances, and his sale would be almost unthinkable at this stage for the Tyneside club.
