Report: West Ham made second approach for Adem Ljajic, player chose Internazionale

West Ham

West Ham attempted to complete a late deal for Adem Ljajic having seen an opening offer rejected.

The Hammers are still looking to get deals over the line, and they wanted to sign Adem Ljajic over the weekend according to Calciomercato.

The Hammers had an offer accepted for Ljajic by Roma last week, but Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that the Serbian playmaker rejected the chance to sign with the East Lodnon club.

However, this did not deter Slaven Bilic, and the Calciomercato report states that the Hammers made another bid for him over the weekend. This was also accepted by the Giallorossi, but Ljajic once again turned down a move to the Boleyn Ground, and instead opted to sign for Serie A side Internazionale on a season-long loan - as confirmed by the official Inter Twitter account.

Ljajic would have added another creative threat to Bilic’s side, and it was no surprise to see the Croatian boss attempt to bring in the playmaker before the end of the window. He is a goalscoring and creative force, and missing out on the 23-year-old deals a big blow to the East London club’s transfer plans.

The Calciomercato report also confirms that Aston Villa had attempted to sign Ljajic earlier in the summer, but as he did with West Ham, the young midfielder rejected the option of moving to Villa Park.
