Report: West Brom reject third Tottenham bid for Saido Berahino

Saido Berahino

BBC Sport claim that the North Londoners have had a new offer for the attacker refused.

Tottenham have had a third offer for West Brom striker Saido Berahino rejected according to BBC Sport, with time running out for the North London side to add to their ranks.

The White Hart Lane outfit have been linked with the versatile forward for a number of months, with the Baggies revealing that they had rejected two offers from Mauricio Pochettino’s men in recent weeks.

With the captures of Clinton N’jie and Heung-min Son, it remained to be seen whether Spurs would return with an improved offer for Berahino, turn their attentions elsewhere or stick with what they had.

BBC Sport claim that Tottenham’s attempts to pry the striker away from The Hawthorns today have ran ashore, with West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace remaining defiant that the young star will not leave Tony Pulis’ men.

Spurs only have Harry Kane as a recognised number nine in their current Premier League squad, with Roberto Soldado offloaded to Villarreal and Emmanuel Adebayor well and truly on his way out.

Given West Brom’s reluctance to sell Berahino and the lack of time to find a replacement, Tottenham may well have to significantly increase their offer for the attacker or admit defeat in their pursuit.
