As reported by the Liverpool Echo, West Brom and Liverpool have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jose Enrique, with the full-back heading to the Midlands to complete a deal before the close of the transfer window.
Enrique, 29, is in the last year of his contract at Anfield, and having fallen down the pecking order due to the signing of Joe Gomez this summer, the Reds have been looking to ship the Spaniard out of the club.
They are keen to get his high wage packet off their books, and although the report claims that Enrique had intended to stay on Merseyside and fight for his place in Brendan Rodgers’ team, it now appears as if he is accepting a move away.
A fee has now been agreed between Liverpool and West Brom for his transfer, and the Reds have given Enrique permission to talk to the Baggies concerning a move to the Hawthorns.
He is expected to undergo a medical in the coming hours, and with personal terms all that is left to be agreed, West Brom should be able to finalise Enrique’s signing before the close of the transfer window.
