Report: Stoke City open talks with Crystal Palace skipper Mile Jedinak

The Australia captain has fallen down the pecking order at Selhurst Park.

Stoke City are in discussions with Crystal Palace captain Mile Jedinak, according to the Mirror.

The Australia international has been a mainstay at Selhurst Park for the last four seasons, but the summer signing of Yohan Cabaye has reduced his first-team opportunites.

James McCarthur has been preferred in the vacant central midfield slot beside the Frenchman and Jedinak will struggle to feature should he remain at Palace beyond the transfer deadline.

The Eagles are willing to listen to offers for the powerful midfielder and the Mirror claim Stoke are now trying their luck, after the 31-year old previously rejected the advances of Watford and West Brom.

Stoke lost their own midfield general, in Steven N’Zonzi, earlier this summer and Jedinak would be an ideal fit for the Potters given his aggressive, no-nonsense style.

It’s a deal that would seem to fit all parties and should go ahead if personal terms can be agreed in the next few hours.
