Report: Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama left furious with club as Tottenham deal is off

The Kenyan has flown out to join up with his international team for duty.

Southampton are not selling Victor Wanyama to Tottenham Hotspur, a move which has reportedly left the player fuming with the club.

The Mirror are reporting that the Kenyan international is livid with Southampton after they once again told their midfielder that he was not heading anywhere this summer – despite Tottenham’s interest.

Now it is fairly clear that the deal is not happening, as Wanyama heads out for international duty with Kenya.

Sky Sports are reporting that Wanyama has headed out to join up with the Kenyan national team ahead of fixtures with Zambia and Equatorial Guinea this week.

The midfielder was reportedly the subject of an £18 million interest from Spurs, as reported by The Daily Mail and did not play against Norwich City at the weekend after being dropped from the squad as his head was not in the right place.

Wanyama’s situation mirrors that of Morgan Schneiderlin last summer, who handed in a transfer request but ended up remaining at the South Coast club for the rest of the 2014/15 season.

Wanyama is now set to remain until January at least.
