The former Celtic man has been linked with The Owls already this summer.
A deal for the player had reportedly broke down over the past week but Sheffield Wednesday have seen other targets such as Ross McCormack and Matej Vydra slip through the net and they are believed to be hopeful of snapping up Hooper after all.
The report claims that the former Celtic attacker’s £32,000-a-week wages will not be a stumbling block for Wednesday – who would be willing to pay his healthy wage packet.
Hooper, who has also been linked with Fulham, could leave with the arrival of Dieumerci Mbokani from Dynamo Kiev seeing him drop down the pecking order even more.
However, Ricky van Wolfswinkel has left on loan again so if Hooper were to become available it would probably only come after another striker emerged at Carrow Road – with Steven Naismith and Dwight Gayle being tentatively linked with a move to the club.
Wednesday have been very busy in the transfer market this summer as they hope to make a fist of a promotion tilt to the Premier League.
