Report: Dimitar Berbatov flies in for talks with Aston Villa

Trinity Road Stand - Aston Villa

The veteran striker could soon join the Villans as Tim Sherwood bids to bolster his frontline.

Former Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov is in Birmingham for talks with Aston Villa ahead of a proposed move, according to Sky Sports.

The ex-Manchester United and Tottenham star parted ways with Monaco at the end of last season and has since been without a club.

Villa boss Tim Sherwood is reportedly keen on returning the Bulgarian to the Premier League to add some experience to his young side.

The 34-year old scored 94 goals in his 229 appearances in England and demonstrated he is still up to the task last season with his goal against Arsenal in the Champions League.

Villa’s pursuit of the enigmatic frontman has likely intensified after it emerged that Emmanuel Adebayor is set to complete his loan switch to West Ham, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Villa are interested in bringing the Togolese striker to the Midlands and will make a deadline day move - according to the likes of the Telegraph - but now look like losing out on his capture.
