Report: Celtic yet to receive concrete offer for Anthony Stokes, despite a wealth of interest

Celtic forward Stokes has been linked with the likes of Bolton, Leeds and Hull City this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Celtic have yet to field any official offers for Anthony Stokes, despite him being listed on the transfer market for much of the summer.

HITC Sport reported earlier this summer that three Championship clubs were keen on signing the attacker, after he made just 18 starts under Ronny Deila last term. Leeds United, Bolton and Hull City were all linked to the forward, whilst the Mail report claims Greek club Panathanaikos have also shown a late interest.

The 27-year-old is said to be keen on securing a move to England, and having made just two appearances this season, he wants to leave Parkhead before the close of the transfer window later today.

Considering the number of attacking players Deila can now call upon, it is clear that Stokes is not part of his first-team set-up, and if a formal bid is made, it is likely that the Celtic management will accept his exit from the Bhoys.

The Mail report claims that Deila is still looking to bring in new forwards, with a deal for Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher on the cards, further opening the door for Stokes to leave the Scottish champions.
