Bournemouth are to sign Aston Villa’s Joe Bennett on loan, as reported by Daily Mail.
The editorial suggests that left-back Bennett will move to the Cherries on a six-month loan deal after agreeing to a year extension on his current deal at Villa Park.
The 25-year-old started his career at Middlesbrough before moving to Villa in the summer of 2012, making his debut against Southampton the following September.
Bennett failed to establish himself as a first-team regular in the West Midlands and spent the whole of last season on loan at Brighton, making 22 appearances.
The versatile defender is also capable of pushing up into left midfield, with his ability to dribble and retain possession making him a viable attacking option in the final third.
Bournemouth have begun life in the Premier League with four points from their opening four matches, though on performances they’ve arguably deserved more.
However, during last weekend’s draw to Leicester City, Tyrone Mings suffered a long-term injury while fellow alternative Charlie Daniels is also ruled out of action, leaving the club short on options.
A loan move was always mooted as a possibility on deadline day, and boss Eddie Howe has seemingly sounded out Bennett as the ideal candidate as a loan switch looks set to be confirmed soon.
