Report: Aston Villa fail in bid for Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle

Tim Sherwood is determined to add to his frontline before today's 6pm deadline.

Aston Villa have been unsuccessful in their latest attempt to bolster their frontline after Crystal Palace rejected their loan proposal for Dwight Gayle, according to the Mirror.

Tim Sherwood is looking to add further attacking reinforcements despite the signings of Adama Traore, Jordan Ayew and Rudy Gestede, and has identified the out-of favour Palace man as an option.

The Eagles are thought to only be willing to let the 24-year old leave on a permanent deal for a fee of around £10 million and it’s unlikely Villa will meet those terms.

Tim Sherwood has overseen the capture of £46 million worth of talent this summer and is now looking at loan options in the last few hours of the transfer window.

Emmanuel Adebayor is another target – as reported by the Telegraph – but he now appears set for a West Ham move, while Dimitar Berbatov is reportedly in Birmingham for talks, according to Sky Sports.
