Report: Adebayor performed a stunning U-turn over Spurs contract situation, snubbed Aston VIlla

Emmanuel Adebayor has reportedly changed his mind over terminating his Tottenham contract.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has rejected a move to Aston Villa - and decided not to terminate his Spurs contract.

The Togolese forward, 31, is out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane, and hasn't even been handed a squad number for this season.

Many had expected Adebayor to leave the club this summer, but with the deadline now passed, the ex-Arsenal and Manchester City striker is still at Spurs.

Now, The Telegraph have opened up about the details of his prolonged stay at Tottenham, suggesting that he snubbed a move to Aston Villa, alongside his former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood, due to advice from his pastor.

Following that, the report states that Adebayor was poised to sign his contract termination papers at Spurs, enabling him to become a free agent and sign for a new club outside of the transfer window.

However, Adebayor allegedly changed his mind at the last minute, and will now stay at Tottenham, unless an agreement is reached to cancel his contract now - which would mean him missing out on playing until January.

The situation is no doubt frustrating for manager Pochettino, but with just one year left on his contract, the end may be in sight for Spurs and Adebayor.
