Dundee United are hoping to beat the transfer deadline to bring in Reading midfielder Aaron Kuhl on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Kuhl is highly-rated at Reading having captained the club's youth team and also skippered the side that won the Under-21 Premier League Cup.
Premier League giants Manchester City have been credited with holding an interest in Kuhl in the past, by the Daily Mail, after seeing him impress in the youth ranks.
The 19-year-old made eight first-team appearances for Reading last season after making his full debut against Huddersfield Town last August.
Kuhl has not featured for Reading so far this season and is well down the pecking order in Steve Clarke's first-team plans.
Spanish side Real Mallorca showed interest in Kuhl earlier this week, as reported by getreading, but a deal failed to materialise after talks between all parties.
Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara is keen to bolster his side's midfield options after a slow start to the season and has lined up a deal to take Kuhl to Tannadice until January.
