Virgil van Dijk has left Scottish Premiership giants Celtic for Premier League outfit Southampton.

Former Nottingham Forest striker Pierre van Hooijdonk has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Virgil van Dijk’s move from Celtic to Southampton.

Van Dijk has joined the Saints from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic on a five-year contract.

According to BBC Sport, Premier League outfit Southampton had to pay the Bhoys a transfer fee of £11.5 million for the services of the Dutch centre-back.

Former Celtic striker Van Hooijdonk has predicted on Twitter that Van Dijk will be called up to the Netherlands national team now that he is a Premier League player.

Van Dijk was one of the best players for Celtic over the past two years and was arguably the best centre-back in the Scottish Premiership.

It will be interesting to see how the Dutchman does in the Premier League, especially as there will be pressure on him to hit the ground running at Southampton.
