Surely Manchester United won't bite on Tottenham's attempts to sell them Emmanuel Adebayor?

Having failed in almost every avenue attempted so far this summer, Spurs have reportedly attempted to sell Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester United, report The Mail.

The Togo international is an outcast at Spurs at present, training with the reserves, with just one year remaining on his current deal.

United are in need of reinforcements in attack, having sold Javier Hernandez, increasing pressure on striker Wayne Rooney.

Former Manchester City man Adebayor should not become a target for United, but as one of the few clubs who could afford his £100,000 per week wages, you almost cannot blame Spurs for at least attempting to do a deal.

While a controversial figure, his wages would be less than half the club paid Radamel Falcao last season, and surely he could not do as badly as the Colombian did at Old Trafford. Even so it would not exactly scream 'masterplan' if this proved manager Louis van Gaal's end game after a mixed summer in the transfer market.
