The Spaniard was sold by Spurs to Villarreal in mid-August, having been left out of the club's early pre-season friendlies.
He failed to build on a poor debut season at the club having joined in 2013, going backwards under Mauricio Pochettino.
Not only did he lose his starting place in the team to youngster Harry Kane, but he scored just one Premier League goal all season.
Yet already in La Liga he has burst back into life, doubling his league tally from last season, netting in both of his games for the Yellow Submarine.
Sugar took to Twitter last night to show how astounded he was at the Spaniard's goals...
Guess who top scorer is in Spanish league is. Yes Soldado !!!!. Played 2 scored 2— Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) August 31, 2015
There were concerns that Soldado never really settled off the pitch in England, which translated itself to poor displays on it.
In Spain though he seems at home, back in the league where he netted more than 20 goals in four consecutive seasons for Valencia before being bought by Tottenham.
Now all Spurs need to do is to buy a striker who is capable of delivering what he is supposed to, but with the transfer deadline at 6pm, time is fast running out.
