Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle has told BT Sport that Arsenal do not have enough players to do the nasty stuff on the football pitch.
When asked if Arsenal have enough players who do the nasty work on the pitch, the Spurs legend said: “I don’t think they have enough of that, but it is a balance, isn’t it?
“They need a little bit of steel. (Francis) Coquelin in there has been doing okay, but for me they have got to go and get a centre-half.”
Quiet summer and disappointing start
Arsenal have been relatively quiet in the summer transfer window and have made just one signing.
The Gunners recruited star goalkeeper Petr Cech from Premier League title rivals Chelsea back in June.
The North London outfit have a number of brilliant players, such as Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey, but they have not made a great start to the 2015-16 campaign.
Arsene Wenger’s side suffered a 2-0 defeat to West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium in their opening Premier League game of the season.
Arsenal bounced back with a 2-1 away win against Crystal Palace, but then they drew goalless with Liverpool at the Emirates last week before getting the better of Newcastle 1-0 at St. James’ Park on Saturday.
