David James says Manchester United are buying a special talent in Anthony Martial.
The former Liverpool goalkeeper took to Twitter amid reports the Red Devils are close to signing Martial from Monaco.
The BBC reported that Martial is heading to Manchester for a medical, with a £36 million
James was impressed with the deal, despite the expense.
@ManUtd look to acquire something special in Anthony Martial. His finishing is proper decent with both feet, an exciting young player— David James (@jamosfoundation) August 31, 2015
Martial was called into the France international squad last week for the very first time, and is seen as one of the best prospects in the country.
His price will demand instant results, but he has shown himself capable already. Last season he played a role in knocking Arsenal out of the Champions League, providing an assist in a 3-1 victory for AS Monaco at The Emirates.
The attacker is capable of playing out wide and up front, and has been compared in his homeland to Premier League legend Thierry Henry, even playing for the same youth side Les Ulis.
Former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchinson was critical of the deal however, suggesting United should have pushed for the more proven Pedro instead, who signed for Chelsea for a cheaper price.
