Brentford have won the race to sign Shrewsbury Town midfielder Ryan Woods, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
A number of Championship clubs have shown an interest in Woods, but Brentford have moved quickly to lure the midfield schemer to Griffin Park.
Woods is understood to have agreed a three-year deal at Brentford after passing a medical at the club and is the Bees' third new signing in the last few days following the arrivals of Sergi Canos from Liverpool and Marco Djuricin from Red Star Salzburg.
Woods, who has been dubbed the 'ginger Pirlo' by Shrewsbury fans, is regarded as one of the best young talents in the Football League after catching the eye over the last two seasons.
West Ham United saw two bids for Woods turned down by Shrewsbury during the last January window after being alerted to the midfielder's potential - as covered by the Shropshire Star.
The 21-year-old came to the attention of a number of clubs after a man-of-the-match performance in a League Cup clash with Chelsea and he was instrumental in helping Shrewsbury win promotion back to League One last season.
