Wolves line up move for Swindon Town's Nathan Byrne

HITC Sport understands Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a move for Swindon Town winger Nathan Byrne.

Wolves have made a move to sign highly-rated Swindon Town star Nathan Byrne before the close of the transfer window on Tuesday, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Byrne has been a long-term target for Wolves with Kenny Jackett a big admirer of the former Tottenham youngster.

Jackett is in the market for a new winger with Dutchman Rajiv van La Parra set to leave the club with Leeds United chasing his signature.

Byrne is regarded as one of the best attacking players in the Football League after catching the eye for Swindon Town in the last 18 months.

The 23-year-old was instrumental in helping Swindon reaching the League One play-off final last season and he was named in the PFA League One Team of the Year for 2014/15.

Byrne has been converted from right-back to a more attacking role and he has already scored a hat-trick in the win over Bradford City this season.

Swindon are reluctant to lose Byrne, but Wolves are keen to land the exciting winger and are in advanced talks with the League One club over a deal for the former Tottenham starlet.
