HITC Sport understands Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt is a target for Sheffield Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday are eyeing a beat-the-deadline swoop for Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Bridcutt is thought to be surplus to requirements at the Stadium of Light with the Scotland international not figuring in Dick Advocaat's plans.
Defensive midfielder Bridcutt was signed by former Sunderland manager Gus Poyet from Brighton but he has not started a game under Advocaat since the Dutchman's arrival on Wearside
The 26-year-old has not figured so far this season and Sunderland are willing to let the player move on from the Stadium of Light.
A number of Championship clubs have been alerted to Bridcutt's availability and several have shown interest in the player, but Wednesday are hoping to bring him to Hillsborough.
Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal is keen to bolster his squad before Tuesday's transfer deadline and has already brought in Crystal Palace's Barry Bannan to add some guile to his side's midfield and he sees Bridcutt as someone who would add further to his squad's quality.
