Mauricio Pochettino hints at more Tottenham signings

Reinforcements could still arrive at Spurs despite their latest big-money capture.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that there could yet be further arrivals at White Hart Lane before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, in an interview with BBC Sport.

Spurs completed the signing of South Korean star Heung-Min Son on Friday and when asked whether any new faces would be arriving, the Argentine responded:

“Maybe… maybe yes, we have our targets. I know you give the names and maybe it happens in the next few days.”

Before adding:

“But I am very happy with our squad. Christian Eriksen needs to recover, N’Jie and Son (are to be introduced) … I think we have a strong squad.”

Pochettino was speaking after his side’s frustrating goalless draw with Everton yesterday, which saw Spurs dominate proceedings but miss several guilt-edged chances, in what was their third consecutive draw.

While there were plenty of positives for Spurs to take, there is still the sense that the final touches need to be added to the squad in the next few days.

Eriksen’s return will be a boost and Clinton N’Jie and Heung-Min Son will add much needed pace from wide areas, but the Lilywhites are yet to secure a direct alternative to Harry Kane.

Saido Berahino was left out of the West Brom squad for the third consecutive game yesterday and it seems difficult to imagine him remaining at the Hawthorns beyond Tuesday - even in light of his Chairman’s recent statement on the club's official site.

Meanwhile, Eric Dier was a candidate for Man of the Match against the Toffees and impressed in his new defensive midfield role, yet an experienced figure in the heart of the Spurs midfield could still be a shrewd addition.

Southampton’s Victor Wanyama has been strongly linked – by the likes of the Mirror – and was left out of the Saints’ squad for the second successive game, for their clash with Norwich City today.

Either player would be a fantastic signing for Spurs and would cap off a successful transfer window, and with Pochettino’s latest comments leaving the door open for more business – the next few days are set to be asexciting as ever at White Hart Lane.
