Manchester City and Chelsea fans react on Twitter to Kevin De Bruyne transfer

The Belgian was sold by Chelsea 18 months ago but City just spent a heap of money on the player.

Chelsea and Manchester City fans have been reacting on Twitter after the latter made the biggest move of the transfer window yet.

City snapped up Belgian winger Kevin De Bruyne from VfL Wolfsburg yesterday for a fee reported by the BBC to be a club record £55 million.

The move, the second biggest paid by an English club in history, sees last season’s Bundesliga player of the season arrive in the Premier League for the rest of the campaign – which City will hope will be the final piece of the jigsaw in their quest for the Premier League title.

City fans were obviously pleased with the deal on Twitter…

Chelsea fans were also reacting. The Blues decided that the player was not for them back in 2014, selling him to Wolfsburg after he failed to make himself a first-team regular at Chelsea.

He has since gone on to become a star in Germany and for the Belgian national team and many a Chelsea fan, especially considering their current troubles, will be wondering what on earth they were thinking letting him go.

Here is some of the best Twitter reaction from Chelsea fans…

The Blues will be hoping that De Bruyne does not fire City to taking the Premier League title off of Chelsea.
