The Gunners have so far failed to add any attackers to their squad this summer, despite strong links to the Real Madrid forward.
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has been discussing fans' frustrations relating to an ability to make attacking additions so far this summer, as well as touching on the prospect of Real Madrid's Karim Benzema joining the club, in an interview with beIN Sports.
Though his position in the Arsenal first team would certainly be jeopardised by the arrival of his fellow Frenchman, as unlikely as that looks right now, Giroud admitted that the arrival of Benzema would have been good for the club, with many media outlets such as the Sun discussing a transfer over the last few months.
"It is true that every year here there is speculation about a new striker signing, the 28-year-old told beIN Sports.
"It is obvious that in a club, a team, where a lot is expected, we need several good attackers and I understand that the fans want that we spend more money.
"It is not up to me to answer this question, the coach knows very well what he is doing, and sometimes you should not buy just to buy, and sometimes there are not players out there that you need, who are available.
"We have a very good squad, with quality, and I am sure that with this squad we can go very far.
"Aside from that, it would have been good if Karim had signed too, eh?"
Frustrations around Arsene Wenger's inability to bring in a proven centre forward since signing Olivier Giroud remain, with the Gunners already struggling to find the net in several of their games this season.
The Londoners have failed to score in two home games at the Emirates, and only won on Sunday away to Newcastle after an own goal by Fabricio Coloccini.
The likes of Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez have been preferred in other attacking positions, and with Giroud boasting just one goal in his opening few games, the call for a quality addition such as Benzema continues.
That is a deal that is unlikely to happen now, but with even Giroud admitting Benzema would have been a good signing for the club, perhaps Wenger will surprise everyone by pulling an attacker out of his transfer hat over the next 24 hours.
