West Ham United rediscovered the form that saw them take three points at the Emirates Stadium on the opening weekend of the new season, this time defeating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield in a brilliant display of dominant football.
The Hammers did not allow Liverpool to get into the game and Slaven Bilic’s side fully deserved their second victory of what looks like being an exciting if unpredictable season for the club.
There were plenty of standout performers, not least Manuel Lanzini and Dimitri Payet, but West Ham also owed their performance and their victory to the contribution of midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate.
The 25-year-old Senegal international was brilliant against the Reds, rarely giving Brendan Rodgers’ side a kick and allowing the more creative players in front of him the chance to shine.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what West Ham fans thought of Kouyate’s latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Kouyate really holds our team together, can play anywhere, quick, strong, technically good as well. Best player we have.— Liam Richards (@Whu_riggers) August 29, 2015
Only one Cheikou Kouyate— Kouyate (@NoahWHUFC) August 29, 2015
Just got back from the Anfield library. Payet scintillating, Kouyate head and shoulders above and tactics bang on. Super, super Slav. Irons— Jean-Luc Peterson (@JeanLucPeterson) August 29, 2015
Kouyate has to be my favourite player, he's brilliant player to have. Such a dominating presence on the field— Steven Brideau (@OakieSb) August 29, 2015
