West Bromwich Albion have been linked with a young French midfielder.

According to a report from Le10 Sport, West Bromwich Albion are one of the clubs interested in signing Stade Rennais midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure this summer.

The 22-year-old has spent his entire professional career at the club, making 73 appearances to date and scoring 13 goals and providing 13 assists in that time.

Predominantly a central midfielder, he can also play in more of an attacking role or even on the wing if required, but with a contract until the summer of 2017 he will not come cheap.

The Le10 Sport report claims Rennes want no less than £7.2million for Doucoure, and it will be interesting to see if West Brom make the substantial bid required given their summer spending to date.

Much could depend on the future of Baggies striker Saido Berahino as a multi-million-pound sale would certainly give them the additional funds to bid for Doucoure and have plenty left over.

But the latest report claims West Brom are not the only club interested in the player, with Watford and Napoli also said to be tracking him and the Serie A side allegedly making a bid on Saturday evening.
