Report: Liverpool inform defender Tiago Ilori he is part of first-team plans, no loan deal

The Portugal under-21 international looks set to stay at the club for now.

Liverpool have told their young defender Tiago Ilori he will not be loaned out this season, despite recent links to Turkish side Galatasaray.

It was reported yesterday that the Turkish side were eyeing up the player, but they went on to sign Manchester City’s Jason Denayer, suggesting their interest in Ilori is no more.

Now The Times is reporting that Liverpool have informed Ilori that he will not be on his way out of the club, as he may become a feature of the first-team going forward.

The Hampstead-born Portugal under-21 international arrived at Liverpool from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2013, in a deal reportedly worth around £8 million – according to the Daily Mirror.

He has already spent two spells out on loan away from Liverpool in the past two years.

He spent the end of the 2013-14 season on loan at La Liga outfit Granada and impressed sufficiently for Ligue 1 side Bordeaux to take him on loan for the 2014-15 campaign – where he played 14 times and scored once.

Now it would seem that Liverpool are ready to give him more of a chance on the Liverpool first-team in the 2015-16 season.
