The Argentine has been at West Ham since last summer.
In recent weeks the reports at West Ham have centred on bringing in attacking options. However, it looks like one of their potential attackers could leave the club.
The club have recently allowed Modibo Maiga an exit from Upton Park and they might be about to follow that up with the departure of mercurial Argentine Mauro Zarate.
It is reported by Italian paper La Gazzetta dello Sport that Serie A side Genoa are keen on the player.
They claim that the Rossoblu have been in touch with West Ham about the player and are awaiting a response from the club regarding the availability of the player.
Zarate was snapped up from Velez Sarsfield last summer but struggled to settle at the club and was eventually loaned to QPR in the winter.
The 28-year-old has played on a more regular basis this campaign and scored against Arsenal on the opening day of the Premier League season.
However, it seems he is slipping down the pecking order once again after the performance of Manuel Lanzini against Liverpool.
It is not reported whether the deal is a loan spell or a permanent transfer, but West Ham might do well to consider a bid – if they bring in a new attacker by Tuesday.
