As confirmed by the club’s official site, Valencia have signed in-demand defender Aymen Abdennour from Ligue 1 side Monaco.
The Tunisia international was one of the most sought-after defenders this summer, attracting reported interest from a host of clubs including a batch from the Premier League.
According to a report in the Sunday Times last week, Newcastle United and Aston Villa were the latest to be plotting moves for the centre-back with an £18 million asking price mooted.
Newcastle and Villa have already been busy on the transfer front this summer, especially the latter with as many as 10 players moving to Villa Park on permanent deals.
Despite the duo’s reported interest in Adbennour, the player on more than once occasion stated his desire to leave Monaco for a Champions League club only and he has finally been granted his wish.
