The Norwegian is certain the club need to sign a new striker in the coming days.
The fact is however that Arsenal again looked to have troubles putting the ball in the back of the net. Theo Walcott started the game up top, but could not take any of his several chances. Olivier Giroud, who has become a polarising figure at The Emirates, also did not take his chances.
They have Danny Welbeck coming back to full fitness and the likes of Alexis Sanchez who can also play down the middle but the fact remains, Arsenal need a new striker.
One man who was pointing this out last night was German football expert Jan Age Fjortoft.
The Norwegian, who played in the Premier League with Barnsley, is known as the man who ‘broke’ the Mesut Ozil to Arsenal story.
But he was critical of the club on Twitter last night. He suggested that the result would now mean Arsenal do not sign a new striker before the Transfer Window shuts on Tuesday – leaving them short up front:
Few days left for Wenger and Arsenal to do something now. They need more quality to be a contender. PL is not Romance. It's HardFact. #afc— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) August 29, 2015
Not sure. Hopefully Arsenal got scouts who are working hard and with an open mind https://t.co/OLyvWTP2ae— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) August 29, 2015
The good news for Arsenal: Winning away at Newcastle The bad news for Arsenal: Wenger even more convinced he doesn't need new players— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) August 29, 2015
Of course Arsenal have been heavily linked with Karim Benzema recently, who would be a great signing, but Real Madrid are believed to be reluctant to a sale. Gonzalo Higuain’s name is cropping up again but Arsenal look likely to not bring in a new striker before the window slams shut.
Leaving Gunners fans frustrated once again.
