According to French outlet RMC Sport, Manchester United have submitted a staggering €50m (£36.3m) offer for Monaco striker Anthony Martial.
United lost for the first time this season earlier today, as Swansea City came from a goal down to beat Louis van Gaal's men 2-1 at the Liberty Stadium.
One of the man stories to come out of the game surrounded Wayne Rooney, as the skipper once again produced a disappointing performance in attack.
Having allowed Robin van Persie to join Fenerbahce and sent Radamel Falcao back to Monaco at the end of his loan deal, many expected United to bring in a new forward - but with just under two days of the transfer window left to go, United have yet to add a new striker.
Now though, RMC Sport - who were the first to break the news over Falcao's move to Old Trafford a year ago - report that United have made a bid for Monaco striker Martial.
The 19-year-old, who hit 11 goals for Leonardo Jardim's side last season, is one of the most talented young forwards in Europe, possessing the pace to get in behind defences and cause problems - something United are clearly missing right now.
The offer is reportedly worth €50m (£36.3m), which is a staggering amount of money for an unproven teenage forward. Yet with United desperate for an injection of youth and pace in attack, Martial could fit the bill for Van Gaal, though Monaco may be reluctant to sell having already lost the likes of Layvin Kurzawa, Aymen Abdennour, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco already this summer.
