Indeed, those that don't quite make it at Tottenham these days often end up succeeding elsewhere. And Soldado is doing just that at Villarreal.
It's early days, of course, but the 30-year-old has netted two goals in two La Liga games since leaving the north London side.
Some will say he looks like a very different player yet, in truth, Soldado is the same player, just in a different system and setting.
For whatever reason, through perhaps the fault of his managers, team-mates and not forgetting his own, the Spaniard ultimately failed at White Hart Lane. But leaving Tottenham has allowed him to flourish extremely early in his Villarreal career.
Naturally, then, the Tottenham faithful had plenty to say about the 30-year-old on Twitter after his latest performance on Friday night. And a lot of them have summed Soldado up in one word - back we come to it: 'Spursy.'
Soldado IF on his second Villarreal game. Now that is #Spursy— Brandon (@SuperDeleAlli) August 28, 2015
2 goals and 2 assists in 2 games for Soldado. If ever you needed a definition of the word Spursy, there it is. #THFC— Jack Cauldwell (@JackCauldwell) August 28, 2015
Lamela will have a 20 goal season when he leaves Spurs and is back in Italy. Just like Soldado. #spursy— GBucholz (@gbucholz) August 28, 2015
