Sunderland fans send message to Short on Twitter after Ola Toivonen's debut

There was more encouragement for Sunderland fans at Aston Villa after a tough few weeks.

Things don't look *too* bad for Sunderland after a second draw in a row on Saturday afternoon.

The Black Cats remain bottom of the Premier League table but that matters little at such an early stage that one win could take them up to eighth. And, after earning a creditable draw against Swansea City, a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa is certainly an improvement on 4-2 and 3-1 defeats to Leicester City and Norwich City respectively.

Dick Advocaat's signings, meanwhile, are making their mark. Yann M'Vila is impressing Sunderland fans and so too is Jeremain Lens. Another new arrival in Ola Toivonen has also made a good impression.

Indeed, during his debut at Aston Villa, where the 29-year-old played 45 minutes, he looked good. And that got Sunderland supporters thinking.

If Advocaat can produce good signings with limited funds, why not give a proven manager more money to spend in the transfer market?

That's the question many Sunderland fans were asking of owner Ellis Short on Twitter after the game, as well as heaping praise on debutant Toivonen. Here's a selection of what was said on social media after the Aston Villa draw...
