The Leeds United centre-back was brilliant against Derby County.
It was a long time coming but Leeds United finally got their first Championship win of the season this weekend after four draws prior to their match against Derby County.
With time ticking down it looked like Uwe Rosler’s side would make it five consecutive draws but Leeds’ summer signing Chris Wood had other ideas, firing home a superb winner with just two minutes of normal-time remaining.
Tom Adeyemi scored the other goal for the Whites but it was Wood’s that will be talked about particularly fondly for the next week and beyond.
However, plenty of other Leeds players impressed against the Rams, not least Sol Bamba, who once again proved just how vital he is to Rosler’s squad.
The Ivorian was solid throughout and finished the match with some brilliant individual statistics.
Leeds needed stability in their back-line for quite some time but once Bamba arrived he brought it in abundance and it is no surprise owner Massimo Cellino signed him permanently this summer.

Against Derby, the Leeds defender won an impressive 12 duels, four tackles, three aerial battles and six interceptions.
Bamba also made seven effective clearances in total, along with one outfield block, and his stats were head-and-shoulders above Leeds’ other defenders.
So another great performance from a great player, and one who Leeds fans will be hoping remains fit and firing all season as they aim for a promotion push.
