Arsenal defeated 10-man Newcastle United 1-0 at St. James’ Park in the Premier League today.

Alan Shearer has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Newcastle United’s defeat to Arsenal at home in the Premier League this afternoon.

The Magpies suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Gunners at St. James' Park, as they continue their search for the first league win of the season.

An own goal from Argentine defender Fabricio Coloccini seven minutes into the second half proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Newcastle played most of the game with 10 men following the sending-off of striker Aleksandar Mitrovic in the 16th minute for a rash challenge on Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin.

It was a controversial decision, but one which Shearer thought was the right one. The Newcastle legend also had his say on Steve McClaren’s side's performance in the narrow defeat on Twitter.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at St. James’ Park, hosts Newcastle had just 26% of the possession, took only one shot (which was off target) and did not earn a single corner.

Meanwhile, Arsenal had 74% of the possession, took 22 shots of which nine were on target and earned nine corners.
