Report: Tyler Blackett arriving to complete Celtic loan, permanent option included

Celtic Stands

Manchester United youngster Tyler Blackett is set to join Celtic.

According to The Scottish Sun, Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett has travelled up to Glasgow in order to watch Celtic take on St. Johnstone this afternoon ahead of his move to join the Bhoys.

Ronny Deila saw his Celtic side crash out of the Champions League on Tuesday following a 2-0 defeat to Malmo, and defender Virgil van Dijk is bound to be in demand as a result.

Manager Deila now appears ready to make another move to strengthen his defence even after signing Manchester City's Dedryck Boyata and Manchester United's Saidy Janko.

Even after Janko's arrival, it appears that another United youngster is heading to Celtic Park, as The Scottish Sun report that Tyler Blackett is poised to complete a loan move to Celtic.

The 21-year-old, who can play at centre back or left back, played ten Premier League games for United last season, but now seemingly has little future at Old Trafford.

The Scottish Sun report that Blackett has travelled up to Glasgow in order to watch Celtic take on St. Johnstone, with a season-long loan deal set to be rubber-stamped.

It's also stated that a permanent option is available to Celtic, where the Bhoys would have to pay £3m in order to keep Blackett long-term.

With his versatility to play at centre back and left back - two positions Celtic need depth at - Blackett could be a shrewd signing for Deila, and his promising displays in the Premier League last season suggest that his best days are ahead of him; something Celtic fans should be excited about.
