Alexandre Pato could be closing in on a move to England.
According to Brazilian TV station Globo Esporte, Tottenham are leading the race to sign Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato, with his agent in London for talks over a transfer.
Pato, 25, was once considered as one of the world's next great strikers during his time in Brazil with Internacional, and whilst he showed glimpses of fulfilling that potential with AC Milan having scored 63 goals in 150 games, Pato's career has been blighted by injuries.
Now back in Brazil with Corinthians, Pato looks set to return to Europe having smashed 33 goals in 81 games during a lengthy loan spell with Sao Paulo.
Globo Esporte report that the Brazilian international's agent has travelled to London for negotiations over a transfer with a Premier League club - and they believe that Tottenham are leading the race for Pato's signature.
Mauricio Pochettino's men still need more attacking reinforcements even after signing Clinton N'Jie and Son Heung-min from Lyon and Bayer Leverkusen respectively, and Pato is more of a natural striker than either of those two new arrivals at White Hart Lane.
With great pace to run in behind defences and superb technical ability, Pato can offer something different to Tottenham's existing attacking options - and if he can stay fit, which has been his biggest problem throughout his career, Pato could be a real asset for Spurs.
Just days of this summer's transfer window remain, and it seems that Pato's agent is attempting to rush through a deal in time to hand his client a big move to England before the deadline, and a move to Spurs could be ideal for all parties.
