The former Newcastle United man reacted positively but was naturally disappointed that Steve McClaren's side were reduced to 10 men.
That said, he was naturally left unhappy with the Tyneside outfit finishing up with just 10 men on the field of play.
Even saying that they had luck with the own goal, the defensive side of things we luck good, but you need 11men on the pitch— mick quinn (@mickquinn1089) August 29, 2015
Could that be interpreted as veiled criticism of Aleksandar Mitrovic? The young striker arrived at St James' Park in a high-profile deal this summer and has shown glimpses of quality. But what good is his quality on the ball if he's always suspended?
The Serb was sent off as early as the 16th minute for Newcastle, costing them dearly against Arsenal.
As Opta stats show, Mitrovic has committed seven fouls in just 127 minutes of Premier League play so far for Newcastle this season. Had he played the full 360 minutes available from the first four games, that figure may well be three times as high.
And the worst thing is the constant warnings that the 20-year-old would get sent off from pundits and coaches alike. Can Steve McClaren finally have that chat with him now...?
